Where Justice is Served

Imagine what would happen if someone denied the Holocaust. The world would probably fall apart.

Imagine what happens when someone denies Japanese WWII atrocities. (Huh, what’s that?) What’s worse is when the prime minister of Japan does it. It is completely unconceivable that any German, and even less authoritative figures would as much as publicly doubt the Holocaust.

A recent article in TIME Magazine quotes Japan’s new PM Shinzo Abe denying that rape being practiced by Japanese Imperial Forces during WII in China and Korea.

I found the article through Digg.com and I must say I am really amazed. I didn’t expect people to know much about this, considering that we didn’t touch this at all during WWII History in Swedish school. Instead, we focused only on German WWII and how evil the Nazi’s were. In the Digg comments section, you can really see something amazing. Justice being served, by the people to the people, grassroots style. You can see comments of poor taste and idiocracy being buried while justified ones being “upped”.

This type of internet democracy has truly left me overwhelmed with a wide range of positive emotions.

On the other hand, I am deeply disappointed in Abe. I have followed him through the news and actually thought he was going to be a positive force towards restoring Sino-Japanese relations.
